I took a chance on it in hopes I could find the issue and use the vehicle as a daily driver. In an attempt to keep this post relatively short, I'll just cut to the chase.
The guy I bought it from tried doing all the basic things. He put in a new ignition switch, he put in a new starter, new starter relay. Just to verify all was well there, I went back and double-checked his work. Yellow had voltage only when key was in Start, all others were hot when key was in "on.
I've gone up to Fuse Block under the hood, checked all fuses, no bad fuses. Crank fuse gets signal when key is in start position, all other fuses have necessary voltages when key is in on position.

My wife and I had the very same issue with our cobalt and I was able to trace it back to a break in the circuit board contained within the fuse box. Cobalt it will crank but won't start lights work some one said no compression in engine too ran good that night came back out then nothing? My Cobalt would start sometimes sometimes not. I had a new key cut at the dealer and was able to use the old key to program the new. Solved my problem. If you have a spare key try that. GuruWTVZ4 answered about a year ago. Terminals are clear of corrosion. Replaced ignition switch 3. Replaced sta I just installed a new battery 2 weeks go.The only way to truck will start as if I hook a amp battery charger to it. Changed out BCM and still nothing so this lead me to only thing left This also gives you no power to start fuse if wondering.

I'm having some problems with my started with delayed start them when I would turn the key all the lights would come one but not start no click or anything would start with the remote start but when I would put the key in and turn it in the on position it would die after about 3 times of this it wouldnt start either way the next morning I tried it remote start again nothing put the key in and fired up but acted like the battery was low anyone have this issue before.
Moedolaz answered about a month ago. Starter went out how can i get it to start to get back an forward to work plz help. Parked the car one night running just fine.Changed out the Spark Plugs and the Transmission Fuel and filter.
After that I had to reset the key fob on the car because after unhooking the battery it reset it. So I tested everything including the starter and the battery and the battery was bad and the starter was Bad so I changed out both of them. After that I was still doing the same thing. So tested All the Fuses and relays with a circuit tester and Multimeter they were all good.

Also checked all the grounds on the car and there is no problem there. I even ended up taking the Alternator off and took it to Auto zone to have it checked, they told me that is was good. Any Ideas on what could be the problem, is it a Computer issue, a ground Problem or what?
Oh after changing out everything on the car, I did crank it and it started just that once but after I shut it off and try to start the car again. It would turn over! Was this answer. This could be the neutral safety switch so we need to test that. I attached the testing. Before you do that, does the theft light go out in the dash when trying to start the vehicle? If not, we need to go down that route.

Nevertheless, life gets busy and weeks, months and years go by without the opportunity to start and run them. Although the battery and the starter motor are often the root cause of a no crank condition, many classic cars have a few separate components between these two devices.
On automobiles from the 40s through the early s, it's common to have an external starter solenoid. The mounting area can vary, but a commonplace is the upper part of the firewall. On classic Ford, Lincoln and Mercury cars they're located on the passenger side inner fender skirt.
Many models have a separate relay that activates the solenoid. Although these devices are reliable the designers probably didn't plan on them lasting more than sixty years. Inside the relay, a set of electrical contacts allows current to flow to the starter solenoid. If these contacts become corroded or extremely worn, they may not get the job done. An external starter solenoid, unlike the relay, carries high voltages. For this reason, these are often large in size and have heavy gauge wiring attached to the lug style terminals.
When the key is pushed to the crank position there should be voltage on both sides of the solenoid. If there is no voltage on the cable that runs to the starter, yet there is voltage on the battery side terminal than the solenoid has failed. Sometimes mechanics will try to get a jump on diagnosis by turning the key to the crank position and listen for a clicking sound.
Although this test does have its merits, you will need to perform further diagnosis before replacing any components. One thing the click noise test verifies is that power is flowing through the circuit.
However, it's possible for a starter relay to make a click sound yet fail to deliver current through the closed contacts. Fortunately, this electrical device is easily tested with a meter or 12 V test light. Classic car starter relays will often have four wires in the connector. With the ignition key in the on position, there should be power on the heavy gauge red wire and a strong ground on the black wire.Troubleshooting a no start problem on your Ford 4.
